World's Smallest Mona Lisa

The Mini Lisa

  • Georgia Institute of Technology: The world's smallest Mona Lisa has been 'painted' and constitutes about 30 microns in width, i.e, the size of one human hair. Each pixel in the photograph is spaced by 125 nano meters.
  • The painting was created by using not pens or pencils, but a new technology called  ThermoChemical NanoLithography (TCNL), in which  incredibly precise variations in heat produced lighter or darker shades or gray in a special dye.
  • The process was not an easy one and did not achieve the sharpness and precision of the original painting. This new painting has been named the Mini Lisa and is definitely a great achievement so far.
